| Message: | | I'm getting close to start-up. I've just taken a side step rebuild an e21 lsd for the '02. Same case, just swapped the rear cover plate for mounting. Sweet and easy upgrade for the '02, just wish it had a pulse wheel and sensor for the 3181s speedo. Also welded up my own exhaust. It's not the prettiest welding, but 2 1/4" end to end and a very clean fit with BMW hangers.
Next, run the fuel line and finish up wiring and a few more final details, intake finished up, and a little brake work just because it's been idle for a couple of years.
So, now on summer vacation from teaching, I should have time to get it going. 1976 2002 with '91 m42, 5 speed, 3.91 lsd, rack and pinion, mahogany and aluminum MOMO steering wheel (out of our old 735), perhaps the rear buckets from my '85 635 if I can get them dyed black. Coming soon, e46 coils, Bilstein sport shocks, lowering springs, suspension bushings, repro Alpina wheels, mahogany shift knob, fog lights, AC pieced from Behr and other items collected, then, maybe a little body work and a respray.
It's been a long, difficult process, but it is done to detail. Can't wait to drive it again. It was a great car in original condition, my true daily driver until the m10 cracked, but now pretty much a '91 318is in a '76 '02 body. Just hope it all works.
Later, Jim
