| Message: | | Getting ready for HC (leaving 8/26) and I went to check the tire pressure on the spare. It was very low, so I decided to check the tire and the extension tube to see if there was a problem. When I filled the tire, I could hear the air leaking out. I discovered that the valve stem had a hole in the side of it!
I went to an auto parts store and picked up a new valve stem and some tools (one is used to remove the valve the other to pull the stem through the hole). I have a nice big vise, so I put the tire in it and broke the bead near the valve stem, cut the old one out and installed the new one. I filled the tire with air, and I'll recheck it tonight to make sure that it is holding.
Of course I hope that this was a waste of time (that I don't need to use the spare) but I'm glad I took the time to check it out!
I'd keep playing! I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!
