| Message: | "Again, 5,000 of those are temps, i.e., not official BMW employees, so non-event." A cut in labor force is a cut in labor force. It doesn't matter one iota in what capacity they were hired. "At this point, I think we need to remind ourselves that one of the reasons why gas/fuel is more expensive in dollar terms is because the dollar is weaker against other major currencies, particulary the euro & pound." Finance isn't my area of expertise, but since I spend a lot of time and a lot of my money in investing et al, I do pay special attention to what the finance experts say and it happens to be that a lot of them blame the weak dollar to the fact that we're paying high fuel costs, not vice versa. "So why did you bring up VW's sales? YTD'08 sales are up ever so slightly, due mainly to cars that, effectively, weren't available (widely if at all), a year ago - R32, Eos & Tiguan." Are you saying the R32 wasn't available here until 2008? Funny, I thought it had been around a few years. Jim | ||||
