Harman Kardon vs. standard sound system (archive)

Hello, Being in Australia, I don't know what the standard specs are for Z3's in the States. There have been lots of complaints about the sound system quality in Z3's here, but what sound system are the complaints levelled at? ie. does the optional (in Australia) Harman Kardon system still sound as bad?

I'm considering a Z3 purchase for later in the year, so I'm wanting to know if the extra $$$ for the HK system is worth it. I'm not big on third party post-purchase mods.
