(a) It is obvious from the pictures that the side-impact airbag on the driver's side did deploy.

(b) The roll hoops, unlike on some Mercedes, did not need to "deploy." They were there all the time. It looks from the pictures like they withstood the crash, which is good news for all of us with rollhoops.
